How They Work

Treeless Saddles are not just glorified bareback pads...

While a bareback pad might seem like a good idea to protect your horse’s back, it can actually create problems by concentrating all of your weight into a small area.  Free Wind Treeless Saddles protect your horse’s spine with a system of firm but flexible foam pads that create a wide and deep spinal channel.

 

Over time, these panels may compress somewhat, especially if used extensively on one horse, but they remain flexible and will never collapse completely, giving you the certainty that your horse’s delicate spine is always protected.

Horses are no different than the rest of us.  They gain and lose a few pounds depending on the time of year and, just
like your nice slim summer jeans may be a bit snug in the spring, your horse’s saddle may not fit quite right at certain times.  The difference is, snug jeans don’t have a rigid tree to pinch, rub and cause extremely painful pressure points.  Neither do treeless saddles. Their inherent flexibility means the same saddle will fit your horse equally well throughout the year.
